What home watch is
Home watch is a scheduled, in-person check of a home while the owner is away. In McCall that matters more than most places. A second home can sit empty for weeks through freeze cycles, heavy snow, spring runoff, and summer storms. Small problems (a slow leak, a boiler that quit, a door the wind worked open) turn into big ones when nobody looks.
Hawk's home watch service puts a local team in your home on a set schedule. We look at the things that fail, fix or flag what we find, and call you when something needs a decision. Some owners call this caretaking, house checks, or second-home management. Whatever you call it, the job is the same: someone local keeps an eye on the house.
What we check on every visit
- Mechanical rooms. Radiant and forced-air heat, boilers, water heaters, pumps, softeners, and the pressure gauges that show trouble before it spreads.
- Every water-bearing fixture. Under sinks, behind toilets, around tubs and showers, washer hookups, and anywhere a supply line turns a corner.
- Doors, windows, and locks. Every exterior opening, every visit.
- Interior temperature and humidity. Checked every visit, so a failing heat source doesn't go unnoticed.
- Electrical panels. Breakers seated, labels intact, nothing warm that shouldn't be.
- The exterior. Siding, roof from the ground, drainage at downspouts, decks, and anything that moved since last time.
- Wildlife and entry points. Valley County wildlife finds gaps. We note them before they become a problem.
What changes with the season
- Winter. Snow load on the roof, ice-dam risk, heat tape, freeze points, and snow removal handled by Hawk's service team.
- Spring. Post-snow damage checks, gutters, irrigation startup, and anything that was buried all winter.
- Summer. Storm checks, screens, exterior finishes, and cooling performance.
- Fall. Winterization, hose bibs, outdoor furniture, and the prep that makes winter readiness work.
When something is wrong
A real person answers the phone. When a visit turns up a problem, or an alarm, storm, or freeze creates one between visits, Hawk can be at the house the same day to assess it. Because we're also a remodeling and property services team, we can often fix what we find instead of handing you a list of names to call.

Is home watch the same as property management?
Not quite. Home watch is scheduled checks on the condition of a home that's often empty. Property management usually means managing tenants or rentals. Hawk's focus is the house itself: we watch, maintain, and repair homes for their owners, and handle larger work as a builder when it's needed.
Can you fix what you find?
Often, yes. Hawk is a registered Idaho contractor (RCE-33882) with its own service team. Repairs, maintenance, and larger projects are quoted and approved by you before we do the work.
