About this home
SlopeSide Escape is a mountain-modern residence tucked into a Tamarack Resort lot where the run comes right to the back of the house. The family came to us wanting something that worked equally well after a bluebird day of skiing and after a long summer bike ride: a house with a gear-room in its bones, not an afterthought.
The plan
The main volume sits under a vaulted timber ceiling, with a gourmet kitchen, a great room, and a wall of windows aimed squarely at the slope. A stone fireplace anchors the room; a long dining table sits where the winter light lands in the afternoon. Guest suites are arranged for real privacy, the kind of separation that matters when the house is full of family and every bed is taken.
Details worth calling out
- A mudroom that does its job. Heated floors, drying racks, ski storage, and a wash-down zone that handles the mess before it reaches the rest of the house.
- Plan-for-snow details. Heated walkways, snow-shed planning off the primary roof lines, and eaves sized for real Tamarack winters.
- A kitchen that scales. An island that seats ten, a secondary prep pantry, and enough refrigeration for the number of people who actually show up on a Friday.
- Views that stay clear. Window washing and exterior-envelope details were planned into the design so the glass stays worth building for.
What we learned
Tamarack's build windows are short. We sequenced site prep, foundation, and framing around the weather, leaned hard on our regular Tamarack subs, and kept the milestone schedule public with the owner so the whole team stayed aligned. The house was dried in ahead of the hard weather, and finish work ran through the winter under heat.
After handoff
Like most of our Tamarack projects, SlopeSide is on our year-round property care. We handle the snow management, the post-storm inspections, the off-season shutter details, and the middle-of-the-night alarm calls, so the owners can focus on skiing when they're here and forget about the house when they're not.
